Coaching Others

Up

Value is increasingly created in organizations by the resources of human ingenuity, creativity and innovation.  These human resources are scarce and unpredictable.  They are subject not only to the call of intellect and reason but also to the call of affect and emotion.  This places a much greater responsibility on contemporary leaders and managers to build effective relationships with others.  And yet they are often disconnected.

Purpose

Coaching and mentoring skills can bridge the widening gap between leaders and managers and their teams and organizations.  We equip leaders and managers with the skills needed to build the needed bridges.

Approach

Combining workshops with individual sessions we equip people with a foundation to effectively coach and mentor others.  Building on a core content foundation, supplemented by elective components, participants build their capacity to coach and mentor others as a key leadership capability.  The core content focuses on a triad of coaching elements as follows.

The process consists of a series of one-day or two half-day workshops that introduce the core elements.  These workshops are highly interactive with opportunities for participants to learn in practical exercises.  Participants can also select from a series of elective workshops that provide skill development in the following areas:

bulletBecoming career fit
bulletBuilding self-understanding
bulletListening
bulletTime management
bullet Embracing diversity
bulletConflict management
bulletNegotiating
bulletTeam Effectiveness
bulletManaging transition and change

To strengthen and deepen the learning process, participants work with Elsdon Organizational Renewal on an individual basis to apply the coaching and mentoring processes to specific organizational situations.

Outcomes

Participants enhance their ability to develop the human potential of the organization resulting in personal benefits of:

bulletIncreased effectiveness in their current position
bulletEnhanced fulfillment at work
bulletGreater clarity of direction
bulletIncreased ability to influence others and the direction of the organization
bulletEnhanced decision making effectiveness

Leading to organizational benefits of:
